What tools to measure your inboxing

Have you ever wondered how to test your email deliverability properly? We have put together a small guide on the matter to help you navigate through the solutions available on the market. There are several kinds available depending on the feature offered:

  • Authentication/alignment checks: These tools are usually suited to read your header, and tell you if you are authenticated/aligned.

  • Blacklist checks: This software will run your IP / domain against hundreds of blacklists to ensure that you aren’t found in any major.
  • Seed list testing: It can also be called panel tests, the concept is a list of emails from different service providers that will receive test emails and indicated where the email landed, giving you an overview of email placement. They are typically coupled with others checks like blacklist or authentications.
  • Passive trackers: This software works with email trackers that you place into your sending list and get regular insights. They are really helpful to track the progress of IP and domain reputation. They can also provide insightful content recommendations as they analyze each of your emails sent to them.
  • Active trackers: these are a little more unusual. They are trackers that are basically gathering third-party information based on your IP / domain history. They are usually costly as they must have access to the updated third-party database. An example of it is Google Postmaster. it’s a DNS entry that allows you to retrieve email deliverability data based on your domain sending pattern.
